About Gen-Farms
Gen-Farms is an inclusive, mission-oriented company that is using the most valuable resource, the youth, to ensure food security in Rwanda and Kenya. We believe that everyone should know the source of their food, the process undertaken during its production and the effects of the processes.
We seek to ensure that educated youth are actively involved in agriculture and the misconceptions around agriculture are addressed. We do these by creating shared value in our products and services.
The People
Smallholder farmers produce over 80% of the food consumed locally. They are the driving force behind our agricultural work.
The youths are the biggest population and the most active resource that we have; Gen-Farms taps into the extreme potential of these two groups to ensure that their inputs in food production are successful and are leading towards food security.
Strategy
weather, inadequate space, insufficient resources or lack of knowledge should not be a threat to food production. We incorporate innovative skills, systems thinking and human-centred design principles to create sustainable solutions for all our clients and communities that we work with.
The Value
Gen-Farms has an integrated, inclusive mission to improve peoples' living standards. The Value provided is diverse; connecting individuals to economic stability, health, employment, environmental and agricultural justice and identity. We believe that to achieve the global food security goal, we must integrate different areas that have an effect on our work.
Environment & Sustainability
Agriculture has long been a threat to our natural biodiversity. Gen-Farm is built on a foundation of agriculture being designed in a regenerative structure that supplements our environmental compositions, creating a co-dependency structure based on a triple bottom line framework of sustainability.
